Quantitative research articles have to do with numbers.  In scientific research they often compare groups, so you will/may see a “control” or “normal” group compared to one or more “experimental” groups.

Adding one or more of the following terms to your search strategy will help limit your results to quantitative works:

  • Statistics
  • Statistical analysis
  • Empirical research
  • Experimental studies
  • Quantitative research
  • Quantitative studies

To narrow your search connect terms with AND: Statistics AND Empirical Research.

To widen your search, connect terms with OR: Empirical Research OR Quantitative Studies.

For general information on searching for articles, consult the Database Tutorials found on our Research Guide for “NU” Students or, the research guide for your subject area.
