What is Books Direct?
Books Direct is a book delivery service for the National University community. We'll ship books from our Library to other National University campuses, or to home addresses outside of San Diego, for free. Patrons may have a total of 15 books checked out at any one time, with a maximum of 5 books shipped per delivery.

If you need a book that the NU Library doesn't have, try our Interlibrary Loan service instead. We also offer free delivery for ILL books!

Who can use Books Direct?
This service is available to National University students, faculty, staff members, and online alumni members living in the continental USA, Hawaii, or Alaska.

How do I request book delivery?
Just follow these steps:

  1. Search the Library's catalog to find the book you need.
  2. Click the Available link underneath that book's title.

  3. Click the Checkout a book or request delivery (outside SD) link.

Or, click here to access the Books Direct Request Form directly.

If the book you want is unavailable, you can still submit a Books Direct form, and we will place a hold on the book for you. You'll be contacted when the book becomes available.

How do I return books when I'm done?
Your Books Direct order will include instructions on how to return the books for free.
