Go to the Library home page (library.nu.edu) and click on the A-Z Database under the Smart Search box.

Click the "J" tab and scroll down until you see JSTOR.  Click it to access the database.

Log in with your student ID (9 digits) and library password (your birth date in MMDDYY format)

Then choose Advanced Search

Use the Add a Field button so you will have extra search boxes:

Try search terms such as:

South America

Culture OR religion OR Art OR Music OR dress

(Age of Discovery) OR (Colonial Period) OR (Age of Expansion) OR Colonialism

Narrow by Item Type to Article

You can also run the same search with names of individual South American countries.  Another term that you can add to the list to capture the date range that you need is (seventeenth century).  If you are interested in Africa, try the search with Africa instead.

If you don’t find any articles that interest you, try a similar search in:

ProQuest Central

Project Muse
