How do I clear the cache and cookies in my web browser?

If you're having trouble accessing a library database, streaming video, or online resource, clearing your browser's cache and cookies can often resolve the issue.

Your web browser stores temporary files and website data to help pages load faster. Occasionally, this stored information can become outdated and interfere with access to websites or display older versions of a page.

Quick Method

In many browsers, you can open the clear browsing data window by pressing:

Windows: Ctrl + Shift + Delete

Mac: Command + Shift + Delete (may vary by browser)

  1. When the window opens: Select Cookies and Cached Images and Files (or similar options).
  2. If you want to keep your saved passwords, make sure Passwords is not selected.
  3. Clear the selected data.
  4. Close and restart your browser.
  5. Try accessing the library resource again.
