How do I narrow down my search results to get fewer articles?

There are several database search techniques that may be used to narrow down your search results, including phrase searching, Boolean operators, nesting, proximity searching, field searching, and applying search limiters (such as full-text, scholarly/peer reviewed, etc.). We suggest starting out with the How to Find Resources in NavigatorSearch video. This video briefly reviews many of these techniques. You may access this video on our Tutorials & Videos page.

Additionally, you can read about these search techniques on the Preparing to Search guide.

We also suggest attending a live webinar to learn techniques for narrowing your search. You can view all upcoming sessions on the Library Webinar Calendar.
