I found an article through Google Scholar, but when I click on the link to access the article, it asks for payment. What are my options for accessing the resource?

Configure Google Scholar

We recommend that you connect the Library to Google Scholar so that you will see when an article is available through the library.

Login On the Publisher's Website

With OpenAthens, you can use your university login credentials to access resources directly from publisher or content provider websites. For example, if you have found an article through a general Google search from a publisher, you can directly authenticate through the publisher's login feature.

Each publisher or content provider login page will vary, but users can apply these general steps for access:

  1. Locate the Sign In/Login button or click to Access the resource through your institution on the publisher or content provider's website.
  2. Select the OpenAthens login option or search National University San Diego in the Find your organization/Search for your institution search box.
  3. Enter your university credentials for access.

Interlibrary loan

Please note that the Library may not provide direct access to every journal article or publication that you come across on the web.

If you require access to a resource that may not be available in full text through the Library's subscription, you may place a request for the resource through Interlibrary Loan
