Do I have access to previous editions of the DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders)?

Locate DSM-5-TR® Handbook of Differential Diagnosis and the Legacy Collection by going to the Library’s A-Z Databases link, selecting PsychiatryOnline, and then selecting DSM Legacy from the DSM Library menu, as shown below. This resource is only available to currently enrolled students. Alumni do not have access to this resource at this time.

Use the DSM Legacy Collection to see how the classification of mental disorders has evolved over time, what new diagnostic disorders were added, how greater cultural sensitivity was incorporated, and other significant changes. To download fact sheets that cover changes to disorders in the DSM–5, click here.

Previous editions of DSM are included for reference and archival purposes. Each edition is provided in Adobe’s Portable Document Format (PDF). You need Adobe Reader 5.0.5 or higher to view and print the PDF files. You can download the latest version for free from Adobe here.

These editions are not searchable from the main PsychiatryOnline.org search interface; however, each edition is searchable on its own using the Adobe Reader search.
