You can search by research method by adding it as a term. In the first search box, enter your topic; optionally, you may change the field to subject. Enter your research methodology in the second search box and change the field to abstract.

For example: 

            First Search Box: family life cycle (SU - optional field change to subject) AND  

            Second Search Box:  quantitative research. (AB - change search field to abstract)

You can then check the abstracts of the dissertations to verify use of your specified research method.
