Are ebook and journal article downloads free or is there a fee?

Journal Articles

Access to journals that the Library subscribes to or owns is available at no cost for NU students, faculty, and staff.

If we don’t have a specific article, you can request it through our Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service, which is also free.

eBooks

Current NU students, faculty, and staff have free access to the wide range of eBooks the Library owns or subscribes to.

While we’re unable to request or borrow full eBooks the Library doesn’t own, you can request a single PDF chapter through Interlibrary Loan, which is free. You can also request to borrow a print copy of the full book.

Another option: check if a nearby public library has the book you need. We recommend using WorldCat.org, a global library catalog, to search local holdings.
