Do my sources for the literature review portion of my dissertation have to be less than 5 years old?

The standards may vary depending on the Chair, so it is best to confirm with your specific Chair.

However, as outlined in the DSE manual, 80% of sources must be within the past 3-5 years (except for seminal works).

In addition, the literature review must be comprised of mostly articles (rather than books or non-scholarly works).
