Why am I receiving an "Unexpected Error Occurred [Authentication Error Code 137]" when accessing NavigatorSearch (formerly Roadrunner) or an EBSCOhost database?
Last Updated: Jun 26, 2025    Views: 9

The error message stating Unexpected Error Occurred [Authentication Error Code 137] when accessing NavigatorSearch (formerly Roadrunner) or an EBSCOhost database can be attributed to a broken link or a temporary lapse in your library access that requires you to log back in again.

EBSCO unexpected error 137

The Library recommends closing out of your web browser and logging back into the resource using your university credentials.

Clearing your web browser's cache and cookies and restarting it is further recommended. Simply hold down the ctrl+shift+delete keys and release. Select cookies, cache, and temporary internet files, if available, to clear.

Please see the links below for instructions on how to clear your cookies and cache by browser:

You might also try using a different browser, such as Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, or Microsoft Edge, or disconnecting from a VPN service that may be conflicting with your library access.

If you continue to receive this message in error, please contact the Library to review your library access account status. You can reach the Library directly during live help hours.
