Getting a Westlaw account.
Westlaw (Thomson Reuters Westlaw U.S. + Practical Law U.S.) is limited to students in National University's cohort Paralegal program. Librarians create accounts based on faculty requests. If class has started and you need an account, there will be a link in the Brightspace class to a form that you can use to request an account.
How to Register Your Westlaw Practical Law Account:
You will receive a message from Thomson Reuters when National University Librarians create the Westlaw account for you.
Step 1: Scroll down until you see a “Register” button. Click on that link.
Step 2: The Registration Key will automatically be filled in for you. Add a label. Anything like the word "none" or your initials will work. Enter your e-mail address. Click on “Continue”.
Step 3: You will see the registration page again with your label and e-mail address. Click on “Continue” again.
Step 4: You will see a summary showing that the registration is complete. Click on “Continue to Practical Law US”.
Step 5: You should see the search page for Thomson Reuters Practical Law.
The next time you want to search Westlaw, go to https://onepass.westlaw.com/v3.
After you enter your username and password, you may receive a phone call or e-mail message with the authorization code. When you log in, choose Westlaw from the Product List.
We recommend that you set up Westlaw Edge to get the latest search features.
